Located in the heart of Streetsville under the shade of the trees is the Rotary Park. Found on the north side of the Streetsville Library is a beautiful little parkette that is frequently used by the downtown residents to read, relax or meet friends, and for children to climb and slide on the playground equipment under their parents’ watchful eyes.
On the west side of the park, part of the parking lot was torn up to allow for more of a garden for the nearby seniors. As well, a new path was installed permitting park users to reach the plaza without going behind the stores. With renovations to the park completed, there is now a sitting area with benches and more trees.
The members of the SHS have volunteered at the Rotary Park since 2008. In the summer of 2014, we planted hydrangeas, rhododendrons and a magnolia tree. Future plans to refurbish the park include removing old bushes near the library wall and planting more hydrangeas and hostas.
Members are welcome to join us every other Tuesday during the summer from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for park maintenance.
